Celebrating 125 Years of Serving God...

On July 22, 1889, the First Baptist Church was formed in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.  The church began with 15 charter members and met in Dawson's Hall on Queen Street.  The next year (1890), those members plus others had erected the first building on the corner of March & Albert Streets.  On the first anniversary of the church, our first pastor was called, and our first outreach Mission was started.

On July 20th, 2014 — still at the same corner, and still preaching the same message — we began to celebrate our 125th Anniversary with the raising of our Anniversary Banner.  And we held a special Anniversary Celebration Service on Sunday October 19th.

We rejoice in God's faithfulness over these 125 years of proclaiming the gospel.

Your Sermon Topics for NOVEMBER 2014

These topics were chosen by popular vote of the congregation from topics submitted by the congregation.
    • November 2:  In Ephesians 5:10 — What does "a life that is pleasing to the Lord" actually look like?
    • November 9:   Howard McLeod speaks.  (Pastor Jack will be at Convention)
    • November 16:   Christians are often viewed as judgmental if we promote the morals and ethics of the Bible to the general public.  Should we try to influence legislation and policies in the secular world?  Or should we focus on controlling our own behaviour (as the prophet Daniel seemed to do)?
    • November 23:  In Matthew 10:28 — (i) How does the soul differ from the spirit?  (ii) What does He mean by "destroy"?  And when does that happen...  At physical death, or at the final judgement?
    • November 30:  How should we respond to those who say that Christians should be open to accept all the various lifestyles found in society today?
